Ready… Set… ArtGo! Children have fun expressing themselves in this multimedia class. We will use a variety of materials including clay, paints, collage paper, and more. A master artist is introduced during each class and then, using the artists’ technique as inspiration, children explore shapes, colors, and space to create their very own masterpieces. Bring a smock or t-shirt to cover clothes.

Family Open Clay Studio

6 Week Session

Time: 3:45-5:15pm

Current or recent ceramics students of Brookfield Craft Center are welcome to purchase clay studio time by joining the Family Open Studio Program in the Clay Studio. Current BCC members are also eligible to participate if they possess basic ceramic skills. (Not a Member? Click here to learn more or sign up.) During the Family Open Studio sessions, the studio is open for children and adults to work on the wheel or hand build at a table workspace. Enjoy this time to work on class projects and practice techniques. Low fire and cone 6 clay will be available for purchase, and additional fees will be charged for pieces that are to be glazed and fired. Children ages 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

During this 6 week course, students will learn a variety of building techniques including both hand building as well as wheel-thrown pieces. All levels of skill are welcome and projects will be customized to adapt to the interests of each student. This course is open to students ages 8-16. Twenty five pounds of clay is included in the materials fee, additional clay purchases and glazing and firing can be arranged for an additional fee.

Join us for a fun and creative experience as we explore adventures in clay! This class focuses on creativity and the art making process. Through observation, attention to detail and our imaginations, we will explore space, shapes, colors and more. Techniques and concepts incorporate the use of problem solving, cognitive and cooperative learning techniques. Childrens' literature books are the focus on a theme such as insects, nature, animals, seasons landscapes, etc. This class requires the parent/caregiver's attendance and participation. 
*Clay, firing and glazing are included in the material fee.

Do you love working in clay and looking for a fun way to be creative on Friday's after school? Join us in an inspiring environment for our six session Friday after-school series and practice your skills in both hand-building and throwing on the wheel. Project ideas will be customized to adapt to the interests of each participant and we encourage you to bring in your own ideas as well! 

Ages 8-16, an $18 material fee for one 25-bag of clay will be added to the tuition. 
*Students are asked to bring a light nut-free snack and smock/apron or oversized t-shirt. 
Additional clay purchases as well as optional glazing and firing fees can be arranged for an additional fee.

Peaceful Play - Adventures in Art

We will begin the class with gentle stretches and breath work to connect our body with our breath which helps bring calm and grounding so that we can creatively explore a variety of art materials. Participants will learn about a master artist for inspiration and then adventure into painting, clay or collage materials each week. Students will explore new techniques, learn about concepts including shapes, colors, space and more, all while creating their own masterpiece and finding their own unique style!

Each class will incorporate calm, healing music and begin with a guided meditation and breath work along with light stretching as we begin the journey inward to calm, relax and restore. Positive affirmations will also be encouraged to practice during each class to encourage positive self talk, compassion and respect to themselves and others. Students will explore a variety of art media to encourage the creative process and explore the the therapeutic properties of art in a supportive and loving atmosphere. A creative journal will also be kept over the course of the five weeks.

Creative movement and dance focusing on the body, space, relationships, and quality of movement concepts for work alone, with a partner, and in small groups. The techniques and concepts incorporates the uses of problem solving, cognitive, cooperative, and improvisation learning techniques. Props are also used including beanbags, hula hoops, scarves, jump ropes instruments and more! Children's literature books are the focus on a theme such as numbers, letters, animals, insects, ocean, country, color, farm, etc. Laugh, dance and feel the JOY of movement!

Looking to make fun and unique gifts for the holidays? Join us for a 4-class pottery series that will be focused on making handmade gifts for those you love for the holidays! Both hand-building and throwing on the wheel will be explored. Bring your ideas and imagination! Project ideas and demos will also be provided. These class sessions are open to students ages 8-16; an $18 material fee will be added to the tuition. *Students are asked to bring a light nut-free snack. *Pieces can be fired and glazed in time for pick up by 12/23. Looking to moving towards a more vegetarian/vegan diet? Or simply interested in the plant based superfoods that are out there? Join Kaitlin Clark, Wellness Educator of Integrative Healing Arts, for an evening engaged in learning more about how to incorporate more whole foods into your diet and how they help to promote health and wellness. The Joy of Pottery

Enjoy the relaxing and calming effects of working in clay as we create projects focused upon wheel throwing, hand-building as well as decorative techniques, including glazing. The focus of this class wil be to put the mind at ease while we create through experimenting in various forms and techniques. This is great for beginners as well as those who have some experience in clay, who are looking for a relaxing and restorative morning of creative inspiration. Young Visionaries Workshop for Teens

This 2 hour workshop is designed for teenagers to learn how to incorporate the use of awareness, meditation and complementary healing techniques for working through everyday stress. Participants will also create a unique herbal tea blend that they can take home. This is a wonderful class for teens interested in complementary healing with natural remedies in a supportive and relaxing atmosphere.

All supplies and materials will be provided.

Join us for a 3-class workshop series to honor the sacred bodies of women and motherhood.  Each week we will focus on a stage in motherhood incorporating holistic and integrative techniques to support the mother, child and family. Handouts and handmade products are included in each session.

Through a variety of rejuvenating and healing modalities including guided meditation, focus wheels and vision boards, we will explore how to bring our attention inward to tap into our desires, dreams and visions. Vision boards are a hand-crafted representation of collective visions and/or desires that are used as a tool to enhance focus and concentration towards our goals. Mixed media techniques and ways to enhance the vision boards will be covered, as each one is unique and powerful. Enjoy an afternoon of artistic inspiration as we dream big and create in a collective community. 

Feel free to bring your ideas, passions and any visual references you may have to add to your vision board collage (photographs, magazine cut-outs, etc.) Each vision board can be created individually or together (couples, partners, etc.)

Art of Dreamtime

This will be a workshop honoring the sacred dreamtime. 
We will create herbal infused body oil, an aromatherapeutic energy cleansing spray (including flower essences) and an herbal tea blend all designed to promote restful, peace-filled dreams. Each person will take home their own handmade creations to use or give as a unique gift set!

Sister and Brother duo, Kait and Mats Clark, deliver this wonderful oppportunity to become more in tune with symbols in nature to living through awareness. 

Exploration of Animal and Nature Symbols, Guides and Totems. Through this 2-hour workshop we will provide a Guided Meditation and Visualization, explore the awareness of such synchronicities and create art in respect and honor of a chosen totem. This workshop is centered upon gratitude and further appreciation of the natural worlds wisdom into our lives. 

Participants are encouraged to bring their sacred collections/objects (ie: feathers, etc.) to incorporate into the class.  If weather permits we will also be outside. Please bring comfortable outdoor clothing.
